WAAK, crowned in 60 years of excellence

2025 is a year of celebration for WAAK, marking exactly 60 years since our company was founded. WAAK started out in 1965 as what was then called a ‘sheltered workshop’ with four employees and has since grown into a modern social enterprise – the largest in Flanders – employing more than 2,100 people. A jubilee year such as this deserves to be celebrated extensively.

Social enterprises play a vital role in Flanders’ social and economic landscape, and WAAK is no exception. Through a dedicated campaign, we aim to showcase our collaborations with our stakeholders. The people featured in it, along with the relationships they have to one another, exemplify this commitment. We are happy to share their stories.

Recap of the customer event

Our 60th anniversary celebration began in May 2025 with a press event and concluded one year later, in May 2026, with a unique customer event. We brought together 180 customers and stakeholders to exchange ideas and inspire one another. The event was a successful blend of networking and inspirational sessions focused on sustainability, circularity, emerging technologies, such as AI and AR, and social entrepreneurship.
